Essential oilsEssential oils
Aromatherapy power Smell is the capital sense but we tend to neglect it as it is an integrated part of our vital system. A simple flu suffices to remind us of its importance. Without the sense of smell, we lose our markers, food seems to lose their flavours and we become insensible to smells... With the sense of smell, we can perceive messages that influence our mood. Mum’s perfume, an old book smell, our grand ma’s apple pie baked in the oven ... so many olfactory messages bring agreeably some of our past history to surface. Aromatherapy uses this principle: it calls upon our olfactory memory to act on our well-being. The essential oils aromas simulate our nervous system and send an auto-regulation order. Their influences, acting on our physiological and psychological equilibrium and can become simulating, sedative or re-equilibrating depending on the oils composition. For example, using the relaxing essential oils at your workplace will help to reduce the stress and the work tensions.
Conserve the bottle well - Do not leave the essential oils at children reach (risks of poisoning or burning). - Always close the bottle to avoid the aroma from escaping. - Place the bottles in a fresh and dark place to prevent the oils from oxidizing. - Keep the bottle in standing position as the essential oils have the faculty to gnaw at the plastic of the drops-counter and the cap. - When well kept, good quality oil can be conserved perfectly for many years. How to use the essential oils? When used in inhalation: put the water in the specific diffuser and add on about fifteen drops of essential oils. When used for massage: mix 3 to 5 drops of essence with 10ml of vegetal oil : grape pit oil, olive, soft almond, avocado, etc. On the face: use the supporting oil (Chile muscatel rose oil, wheat sprout or avocado) and never exceed 3 essential oils for 10ml supporting oil. To hydrate: mix a few drops of oil with an neutral and non perfumed hydrating body milk. On the hair: mix a few drops of oil with your shampoo. Caution: only prepare one dosage each time: essential oils cannot support a prolonged contact with the shampoo. In your bath: add 10 to 15 drops of oil in a cup of milk powder and add the combination into the bath. You will therefore benefit from a marvellous perfumed milk bath.![]() A few recommendations Avoid any contact of pure essence (non-diluted) with the mucosal (eyes, mouth, nose, ears, vagina) as well as any irritated or sensible zone. In case of an essential oil projection in the eyes or in the mucosal, do not use water but vegetal oil to rinse. Due to a strong concentration of oils, the dosage used should be infinitesimal and the internal treatment necessitates a precise dosage. For a medical use destined to heal important troubles, consult your pharmacist, a naturopath or an aroma therapist. If you swallow a pure essential oil by mistake, swallow immediately a few drops of vegetal oil. In case of important absorption, call the closest anti-poison department. It is strongly advised to take an allergy test before applying any essence on your body. Mix one drop of essential oil with a drop of vegetal oil and apply the mix on the centre of your wrist or your elbow. If no allergic reaction is noticed on the next day, you can use the product. |
